Lenox Township is a flat and largely rural township in northeastern Macomb County made up of farmland, wetlands, and pockets of woodlands. One local marker: The New Haven Fire Department, established in 1860, ranks among the oldest fire departments in Macomb County. Some 10,662 residents occupy about 3,272 households. The settlement was first called New Baltimore Station, for the Grand Trunk Western depot whose principal trade was with New Baltimore on Anchor Bay, at the far end of the New Haven/Romeo plank road, also known as the Ashley/Romeo Plank Road.
